Welcome! Whether you’re a child, complete beginner, adult complete beginner or a more established rider, you can enjoy a pony trek (for beginners) longer hack (more established riders) on our off-road bridleways.
Based in rural Nottinghamshire and set on a bridleway, Coloured Cob is blessed with some of the most stunning pony treks in the UK. Most of our rides take us through the archaeological beauty spot of Creswell Crags, which is a limestone gorge, honeycombed with caves that date back to the Ice Age and provide a quite breath-taking trekking experience.
Coloured cob can cater for trekking parties from 1 rider upwards. If you particularly request a larger group we can accommodate up to 25 riders at one time i.e birthday’s or hen parties.

We provide the hats (up to current BETA standards) or if you bring your own, we will check that it is up to current to standards as your safety is paramount to us. We would kindly ask that you wear suitable footwear and long trousers to the ankle. We do have a tack shop on site if you’d like to purchase any equestrian wear.
On arrival, you will asked to complete paperwork and then you’ll be taken to the mounting block (as this is kinder for the horse) to get on your horse.
There is a weight limit of 15 stone ( we do weigh new riders on arrival) and we are insured for children to ride from the age of 2yrs.

It was my aim to open a riding school & equestrian centre where compassion and customer service were high on the business agenda. Coloured Cob prides itself on listening to the needs of clients, but also to the needs of the horses. The centre is also steeped in history and the stables and accommodation date back to 1610. Situated on bridleways immediately adjacent to the archaeological beauty spot of Creswell Crags, meaning we are blessed with a beautiful countryside setting.
Riders are taught by highly qualified equestrian coaches, who not only have the experience and qualifications to teach the correct aids during your lesson, but also to coach you towards building your confidence, working to goals within your comfort zone and ensuring the health and safety of not only yourself but our horses is absolutely paramount.
